Be Ready For a Great Start
It’s great that you’re here! You were hired because we believe you have the potential to add to our organization at the same time we can help you grow personally, professionally and financially. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship that we are excited to get underway!
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO
As you may know, you are now part of a very unique organization. It doesn’t come by chance that you are with us, or that we are unique – it is all part of of our long term vision. Take a few minutes to read and understand what guides us. As part of our team we expect you are guided by this also.
As you read our vision we hope that you recognize the incredible opportunities that lie ahead if you choose to go after them. We are excited to facilitate your growth, remember though, you are the master of it.
Payroll Access
We use Intuit Quickbooks Workforce for payroll. With it you can view all your direct deposit pay information and T4s. You should receive an email inviting you to sign up, if not please contact the office. Set it up and save the password for easy access.
YOUR FIRST DAY
On or Before your first day you will :
- receive a welcome email to introduce you to this intranet site, provide company contact information, as well as parking information.
- experience the Yard, Shop and Office orientation tour
- watch the CRL Shop Tips video
- watch the PPE and Machine Safety 1 & 2 power point presentations
If you make it out to site on this day you’ll be working closely along side a co-worker who will answer any questions you have and help you get a great start. Be prepared to work on site with lunch, water and PPE. Proactively communicate with your supervisor to make sure you know if, when and where you will be working.
YOUR FIRST WEEK
On or before the end of your first week with us you will:
- respond to the welcome email
- pass the Yard/Shop/Office orientation quiz
- pass the PPE quiz
- pass the Machine Safety quiz
- be introduced to the Passport to Success Skills Tracking Document
During your first week with us we want to make sure you have all the information you need to succeed. If this is not the case we hope you bring it to our attention so we can fix it! You’ll be working closely with a Foreman or your department manager. In your first two weeks we are observing your work techniques, attitude and ethics to inform your wage review at the end of week two.
YOUR FIRST MONTH
Having completed your 2 week Tryout, you’re getting to know our team and how we do things around here. You’ve had an introduction to financial literacy, have set skill goals with your department manager. You’ve experienced departmental and company-wide huddles, and we’d expect you to be actively participating in them.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
At 90 days you’ve completed your probation. You should be feeling like an integral part of our team You’ll then be participating in the company group benefits plan, you’ll understand how to calculate your profit share and you will have completed all the skills training required by your department.
- Pass the financial literacy quiz
- Passport to Success signed off as per department requirements
